UniJos Suicide Prevention Walk:Towards Suicide Prevention

To mark the 2019 world mental health day,the Student Union Government UniJos chapter in conjunction with Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH)  Suicide Prevention and Response Unit staged a walk with the theme tagged "TOWARDS SUICIDE PREVENTION".
The event held on the 10th of October kicked off at about 4:30pm and had in attendance Representatives of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) personnel's in persons of Dr Annah B. Gyang,Dr Sarah Y. Armiyau, Dr.Yusufu Maigari and so many other medical staff and students,the Students Union Government (SUG) executives , Students of Psychology, Unijos students and other occupants around the students community.
Dr Aishatu Y. Armiyau speaking during her speech welcomed all and stated that this year's walk has been choosen to hold in the campus because of the recent cases of suicide among youths .
  She said since the walk began over thirty positive calls has been received and four for today. She advised the students to take advantage of the call in lines and enlightened them that suicide is never the solution to challenges.
The walk  which started from Naraguta Clinical Psychology Center ended in Abuja hostel.
And is set to come to a close tomorrow 11th of October with a lecture on "RISK FACTORS AND PREVENTION OF SUICIDE" at ASSU secetariat hall permanent site by 10:00 am prompt.
